About
Ever since I could remember, I have loved film and have been fascinated by how one can take a series of images and put them together in such a way that it creates a story. The first movie that captivated my love for film was Star Wars: A New Hope on VHS. I was awestruck with the universe's scope, never before seen special and visual effects, futuristic costumes, and memorable characters. Ever since that moment, I have had a passion for film.
As a filmmaker, I want to be a director who creates stories questioning man's morality and digging deeper into what makes us human. I want my stories to have the hero’s journey, but I want their journey not only to have physical obstacles that they have to overcome but internal obstacles as well. I want my characters to look at themselves in the mirror, so to speak, and question their motives to see if they’re truly justified in their actions or decisions.
My inspiration for becoming a director came from filmmakers like George Lucas, Francis Ford Coppola, and Akira Kurosawa. They created such striking stories, whether it was Lucas’ galaxy far, far, away in Star Wars, Coppola’s recreation of Vietnam in Apocalypse Now, or the visceral fight sequences of Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai. Their work showed me that any story is possible through the medium of film. All you need is hard work, drive, and imagination. This is why their work has inspired me to create stories through the lens and vision of a director.
